Degreasing

Put the plate in the vinegar and salt solution, brushing the top surface of the copper (4 tbsp. of vinegar to 1 litre of water). Rinse your plate thoroughly with water. Pour a tiny bit of soya sauce onto the plate. Use the soya sponge and a circular motion to spread it evenly over the plate’s surface. Rinse well with water. Use a clean towel to gently pat the plate dry.

You may also have to use the vinegar solution to deoxidize your plate after etching in the ferric. This prevents tarnishing.

Hot Box

The plate then goes in the hot box to ensure that it is completely dry. Wait 3-5 minutes, or until the plate is dry to the touch. Now you can coat your plate!
