Screen Print: Step Three – Oiling Paper
Posted on: September 27th, 2014
Oiling Paper
When your pattern/image is printed and ready to go, place it on a glass table and put a bit of vegetable oil on the paper. Once you have the oil down, spread it until the entire paper is translucent. Blot access oil with newsprint until no more oil comes off. It is best to wait a few hours before exposing to let the oil set, however if you are tight for time you can expose immediately. IF the paper is too oily, or if you didn’t put enough oil on, it will interfere with the exposure. Extra oil can also stain the screen, making it difficult to re-claim later.
